Navajo Nation explores LTE |
March 11, 2010 |
Canadian equipment supplier DragonWave announced the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority contracted it to conduct a LTE field test across its nation. The Navajo Nation is seeking $46 million fund deployment of fiber-optic infrastructure and LTE across the reservation, the largest Native American jurisdiction in the United States. The network would include a 530 mile fiber rollout and the installation of 57 LTE base stations, providing coverage of 15,000 square miles of the Navajo Nation. DragonWave is installing the pilot project near Fort Defiance, Ariz., providing its Horizon Quantum backhaul solution to support the 700MHz network.
