May 12, 2010

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Covad Communications, a provider of voice and data communications, is offering its Ethernet services through CENX, operator of the world’s first Carrier Ethernet exchange.

Covad offers a portfolio of Ethernet services that addresses more than 10 million businesses in 240 metropolitan statistical areas.

The first interconnection is at CENX’s Los Angeles exchange and provides carriers seamless access to Covad’s Ethernet over copper services, which provide economical last-mile broadband access at speeds ranging from 3 Mbps to 20 Mbps.

Covad and CENX anticipate adding more exchange locations nationwide.

Covad Ethernet services are offered with integrated QoS and CoS options, giving partners great flexibility in optimizing network performance for a wide variety of voice, data and video applications.  Partners can also combine Covad Ethernet products with Covad’s value added services such as MPLS VPNs to gain new customers and upsell their existing customers.
