Internet of Medical Things Market Gets Healthier Opportunity at the Edge Even before the coronavirus hit the U.S., healthcare providers in North America had been turning to the internet of medical things (IoMT) to facili- tate their digital transformations, but the pandemic has caused a sea change in providers’ willingness to implement IoT solutions that augment efforts in preparing for, containing and diagnosing the virus, show findings from Business Insider Intelligence. Prior to the pandemic, healthcare providers were forecast to adopt IoT devices at one of the fastest rates of any industry segment, with the installed base of IoT endpoints expected to grow 29 percent year-over-year in 2020, showed Business Insider research. And pre-pandemic, healthcare was among the top three industries expected to see the fastest growth rates (15.4 percent) in IoT investment in terms of spending during the 2017-2022 forecast period. “But the coronavirus is fundamentally changing how health- care can be accessed and delivered in the U.S.,” said BI analysts, “and we expect to see even faster growth throughout 2020 — and that this upward momentum will outlast the pandemic.” The ability of organizations to realize business value from data increas- ingly depends on their capacity to collect, process, store and analyze it at the edge, new research from Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise compa- ny, suggests. According to a global study of 2,400 IT decision-makers, 72 percent are already actively using edge technologies to deliver new outcomes, with another 16 percent planning to do so in the next year.  Commsignia, a provider of vehicle-to- everything communication (V2X) technol- ogy, has launched the Commsignia channel partner program. The program offers an opportunity for companies active in the smart city or intelligent transporta- tion systems (ITS) space to expand their offerings with Commsignia’s V2X portfo- lio. It also grants access to Commsignia’s team of experts. The global, multi-level program was designed to find and engage partners that are looking to resell, architect, integrate and deploy V2X solutions. It offers access to training and a technical knowledge- base, as well as support in marketing and business development and various commercial benefits. Commsignia’s V2X roadside unit (RSU) and on-board unit (OBU) product line are used by a multitude of road operators, integrators and DOTs, as well as various research institutions, said the company. EMERGENT 200 Million The number of vehicles with embedded connectivity globally by 2025; rising from 110 million in 2020, according to Juniper Research. One of the main beneficiaries of this growth, said Juniper, will be mobile operators. “The incorporation of eSIMs (embedded SIM) into the vehicle will enable operators to leverage their existing network infrastructure to claim $3 billion of additional service revenue by 2025, by acting as an M2M connectivity provider,” said the research firm.
