39 JANUARY - FEBRUARY 2024 | CHANNELVISION bandwidth needs of the remote or corporate office ensures optimal performance for all. In addition, as alluded to earlier, not all traffic needs to be routed through corporate systems, and in some cases, leaving certain traffic on the public internet can lead to a better user experience. Not everything needs strong encryption or to be routed through the company’s systems of rules and requirements. For example, think of instant messaging and video conference call traffic. This type of network traffic is fine to leave to the public internet, as pushing it through a corporate internet first would create noticeable lag. Utilizing the latest SD-WAN technology enables organizations to prioritize data and traffic, ensuring the most critical elements travel over the strongest network connection. Efficiency and effectiveness go hand in hand in today’s flexible workplaces. Automation is the Future As finding IT and network talent becomes more challenging for service providers and end-user companies alike, automation and AI can be the solution necessary to support the flexible, agile networks needed for today’s working world. Automated tools enable providers to quickly understand traffic patterns and proactively manage routing and bandwidth decisions. Embracing automation helps maintain a positive cloud experience even with limited staffing resources, identifying and even correcting issues that could cause service disruption or lag. Most importantly, AI technologies also can be used to change the entire process of troubleshooting and repairs. AI can be trained to identify potential issues and assist a service provider in resolving them before they cause slowdowns or outages. AI can change the repair process from one of reactivity – where service providers respond to and repair problems identified by an end-user – to one where potential problems are discovered and fixed, even before a single ticket is filed. In addition to the troubleshooting and repair process, automation can be a strong tool to improve the ways that service providers monitor multiple clients. A single view of all customers can be created, and updates on service and potential issues or threats can automatically be flagged to a provider or repaired per whatever parameters are set up beforehand. Automating monitoring, troubleshooting and repair tasks also has the added benefit of freeing up key staff to address higher-value problems related to maintaining a top-notch service experience. In today’s mixed work landscape, the ability to build flexible, agile networks that prioritize the end-user experience is vital for service providers. End-users are relying on their partners to deliver excellent end-user experiences. And by focusing on scalability, bandwidth management, and improved monitoring and repair services that embrace automation, providers can help their customers maintain optimal productivity, regardless of any workplace scenario changes. o Karen Falcone serves as Sr. Director of Product Marketing for AI-driven SD-WAN and Service Provider as a Channel at Juniper Networks.
