According to a recent report from the carbon offset organization 8 Billion Trees, “The carbon footprint of data centers is the highest it has ever been. As more and more operations are managed in the ‘cloud,’ the energy required to process and perform those operations is generated mostly by fossil fuels.” The report also suggests that anywhere from 3 million to 5 million gallons of water a day is required
