According to a recent Cisco Talos report, threat actors are increasingly targeting RMM tools – meaning MSPs and their customers are at risk. As Cisco explains, “these tools are designed for legitimate use, but in the wrong hands, they become a stealthy way to maintain persistence on compromised systems without raising alarms.” LogMeIn Resolve takes a different approach, with a groundbreaking zero trust foundation to protect against devastating threats such as supply chain attacks. “This zero trust approach is a ‘never trust, always verify’ approach where zero trust assumes that even if a user is behind the login wall, the system should not automatically trust that they should be there,” explained LogMeIn senior director, product marketing, Chris Savio. “In short, it requires that anyone and everything trying to connect to deployed Resolve hosts verify authorization with a unique, user-specific, signature key before performing a sensitive task, such as deploying patches or remotely accessing a device. The signature is not stored anywhere, not even by GoTo, and cannot be compromised online. And all command verification is conducted at the host with it only accepting commands from reauthenticated, authorized users.” CV: What are some other ways that LogMeIn helps MSPs protect customers? Please tell us how the company is adapting to the changing security landscape and protecting organizations from emerging AI-driven threats. CS: We take a comprehensive approach to helping MSPs protect their customers and themselves. Beyond the game-changing zero trust, Resolve is designed with robust security features baked in including core account and admin level security such as enterprise-grade encryption and authentication controls, granular permissions to support RBAC and comprehensive audit trails. Resolve also provides deep insight into client endpoints, allowing MSPs to proactively monitor system health, identify potential vulnerabilities and manage critical updates. Additionally, Resolve integrates with MSPs’ security ecosystems such as PSA, EPP/EDR and BCDR tools allowing MSPs to consolidate their security posture and automate responses to threats identified by other systems. Regarding the evolving security landscape and emerging AI-driven threats, it’s a constant focus for us. We’re proactively adapting, including our security teams’ constant monitoring of the threat landscape and investment in ways to combat new attack vectors, particularly those leveraging AI. Additionally, we’re taking steps to turn the tables and leverage AI for defense, for example, our AI-powered scam detection feature monitors for scams during remote sessions and will alert and even end sessions if identified.
