While some consumers may not recognize the name Snom, its impact on the business world of its partners and clients over the years is undeniable. VTech Snom is the first provider of the SIP IP-standardized phone, with a portfolio of hardware communications products that allow offices, franchises, factories, hospitals and government agencies to perform their everyday functions in a more efficient way. Snom manufactures SIP IP phones, endpoints, industry leading DECT solutions and multi-, single- and dual-cell technology. With headsets, conferencing phones and other critical communications devices in tow, its portfolio addresses the custom needs of any services provider. And, as a part of cordless phone manufacturer VTech, Snom can sidestep many of the supply chain issues that plague competitors. “We’re a full-featured telecommunications manufacturer,” said Snom senior sales director, Chris Trittin. “One thing we work very hard at is spending more time talking about what you might need and work to solve the problems customers are facing.” At the heart of Snom’s portfolio is its ability to offer multiple solutions featuring DECT. While many IP phones tend to blur together in terms of functionality, Snom sees things differently. This solution solves multiple DECT requirements in the marketplace, even going beyond this to offer key system functionality and emulated BLF capabilities within its M100 and M500 base stations. With key systems, customers can see lines 1-6 ringing on the wireless handset and wireless desktop, with shareable call manipulation on all devices. This technology is particularly useful for offices, retail environments, restaurants, medical centers, car dealerships and other businesses that rely on multiple phone lines. One highlight of Snom’s DECT has been its M900 DECT series, which scales to support up to 4,000 phones and 1,000 base stations, making it logical for use in warehouses, sprawling campuses, hospitals and clinics. A direct solution, the M900 offers a wireless alternative to other competitive, ruggedized and antibacterial products. “It’s hard to differentiate between products, which is why the prices are continuously dropping,” said Trittin. “However, we are offering technology and features our competition is not, allowing our partners to sell value instead of relying on dropping monthly recurring charges to win deals. Our advantage starts with our single-cell and dualcell standalone DECT. “Most service providers have to lower their price monthly,” he continued, noting that Snom’s DECT gives it freedom to penetrate the service provider realm. “We’re offering them a way to differentiate through service and technology, versus just cost and price.” Snom also offers technology for bridging customer migrations to the cloud. “Right now, many are hesitant to migrate to the cloud because they don’t want to lose their existing key system feature and functionality,” said Trittin. “We offer a bridge that enables them to keep that technology while benefiting and capitalizing on all of the benefits that cloud offers.” Snom manufactures the only product in the SIP and IP phone market that offers such technology, giving it true hardware differentiation. “It’s very difficult to map a virtual trunk, which is what phone lines are now, to a physical location and to move it to a specific location,” said Trittin. “We’ve been able to do that. It’s one of our bigger differentiators. There’s still about five million SMBs that use key systems. All of those systems are antiquated, but they won’t leave them behind simply because they refuse to step away from key system functionality. “We’re the only product in the IP phone world that allows all of that to be transferred to the cloud,” he continued. “So we offer a bridge to all those companies to migrate toward the benefits of the cloud.” Snom is constantly tweaking its product roadmap, with plans for new handsets – including larger, executive-level phones – in the coming months. It’s all part of the natural evolution that Snom has witnessed during the last 25 years. “We built this business,” smiled Trittin. “We developed this business.” o For more information on VTech Snom, visit www.snomamericas.com or email infoUSA@snom.com.
