Verizon Nabs Robot Automation Company Looking to broaden its range of enterprise 5G services to include robot automation, Verizon inked a deal to acquire Austria-based software company Incubed IT. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Incubed IT’s software allows industrial robots to navigate autonomously and includes a navigation toolkit, fleet management system to coordinate multiple robots, and data monitoring and analytics reporting services. The deal is expected to close later this year, with Incubed IT’s employees set to join Verizon’s New Business Incubation team. According to Elise Neel, vice president of Verizon New Business Incubation, the combination of Verizon’s 5G network with Incubed IT’s software will “enable faster, less expensive and more effective adoption of robotic automation for enterprises everywhere.” Incubed IT has approximately 30 employees and more than 75 active projects with more than 50 customers, highlighting applica - tions of its technology in warehouse and production facilities. Verizon recently ramped efforts to hone next-generation enterprise use cases, teaming with companies including Unity Technologies, SAP, Deloitte and Emory Healthcare to trial applications spanning AR/VR, 3D content, smart manufacturing and smart supply chain operations. Networking executives resoundingly view advanced wireless services as integral to their efforts to deploy innovative technolo- gies and digitally transforms their businesses, said researchers at Deloitte. That includes efforts around big data analytics, edge computing, AI and IoT. Four out of five networking executive surveyed consider advanced wireless very/extremely important to their organizations ability to implement these technologies – even more say the same for cloud computing. “With advanced networking becoming intrinsic, how organizations adopt and architect their advanced wireless solutions is no longer a separate decision from how they implement other innovative technologies,” said Deloitte researchers. “Leaders should increas- ingly consider advanced networking a key component of an organi- zation’s end-to-end enterprise architecture.” EMERGENT Emergent Tech Demand Remains Healthy Source: SWZD How are you partners making m Source: ChannelVision Magazine sur Hours Spent Per Week Troubleshooting UC Issues Business Applications 2005 - 2021 Source: TOP Data COVID-19 created a surge in business applications far greater than anything in the previous 15 years Regulatory/compliance requirements To access renewable energy and/or improve efficiency As ‘edge’ space (e.g. for loT data, or keep content closer to end users) Lack skills to manage/operate datacenter Ran out of enterprise datacenter space/power Source: 451 Research; 9/20 Sourc : Viavi Solutions Unsure None Up to 10 hours 2018 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 2021 More than 10 hours 500k 400k 300k 200k 100k 0k Executives see advanced wireless networks (including 5G and Wi-Fi 6) as foundational to taking advantage of other advanced tehnologies Source: Deloitte Very important Extremely important Importance of advanced wireless to company’s ability to implement each technology They’re not Device/Fleet management Expense management 5G connectivity Other Mobile Phone Policy: Company-o Tablet Policy: Company-o Mobile Phone Policy: Per Tablet Policy: Per Enterprise 5G Sm Source: Morning Consult; Verizon 21% 21% 20% 17% 12% 12% 36% 38% 19% 3% 41% 66% 16% 2006 2008 2010 2012 2014 2016 Business Applications 2018 2020 Edge computing AI Big data analytics loT Cloud computing 43% 32% 48% 36% 46% 39% 43% 31% 58% 36% 0% 10% 20% 0% 10% 20% 3 Already done/currently doin Planning to do in the next 1 Advanced Wireless at Core of Digital Transformations Technology Trends Implemented or Planned Within Two Years Source: SWZD How are you partners making money on mobility?
