What is Branded Calling? Branded calling lets callers manage their calling identity so that it is presented to the people they call. This identity information always includes the brand name. It can also include the brand logo image and a call reason on supported handsets. Called parties are unlikely to answer calls from unknown numbers and are more likely to answer branded calls. Enterprise callers and organizations use branded calling to improve the call answer rate for their outbound calls. What is Branded Calling ID? Branded calling services have been offered as proprietary solutions directly to calling organizations. The vendors that provide these branded calling services typically sell directly to calling organizations and use out-of-band technology to communicate branded calling information for each branded call. Branded Calling ID, also known as BCID, is a new, non-proprietary, standards-based branded calling solution and ecosystem. It was developed by CTIA – The Wireless Association. Branded Calling ID Ecosystem The BCID ecosystem identifies several roles to be performed in setting up and using BCID. One entity might perform several of the roles listed here. BCID Platform The BCID platform is a system that stores information about registered enterprises and tracks branded calling activities. Calling Organizations In BCID nomenclature, the caller is often called the “enterprise,” and such callers often are businesses that make calls to their customers. Enterprise callers also include schools, hospitals, government agencies, delivery services, plumbers, HVAC services, auto shops and dealerships, to name a few. Onboarding Agents Onboarding Agents register calling organizations, collect and convey their calling information to an authorized Vetting Agent, and manage billing, reporting and customer support.
