14 THE INCOMPAS SHOW I OCTOBER 20 - 22, 2024 www.bekabusinessmedia.com DAY 1 DAY 1 Windstream Wholesale, Colt Technology, Nokia Complete First Ultra-fast 800GbE Trial Windstream Wholesale, Colt Technology Services and Nokia this week announced the successful completion of a world-first 800 Gigabit Ethernet (800GbE) service trial connecting London with Chicago across an 8,500 km subsea and terrestrial route over the production network. The trial showcased innovative power-saving networking technologies from the three global technology businesses to test the boundaries of next-generation wavelength, capacity, speed and latency between two of the world’s largest financial trading hubs. The field trial involved connecting one of Colt’s five powerful transatlantic subsea cables and part of its extensive terrestrial fiber optic network with Windstream Wholesale’s domestic U.S. low latency optical fiber Intelligent Converged Optical Network (ICON) monitoring speed and performance. Together, Colt and Windstream Wholesale have partnered to demonstrate the world’s first transoceanic 800 GbE end-to-end service transport from router to router over 1Tbps optical transport. The trial was successfully delivered using Nokia’s sixth-generation Photonic Service Engine (PSE-6s) coherent optics and 7750 Service Router (SR) high-performance routing platforms boosting internet service speeds and supporting ultra-high wavelength capacity, while maintaining power efficiency. 800G technology marks a breakthrough in service bandwidth, doubling capacity to support advanced network applications like AI data center networking, content delivery networks and financial data hub connections, said the companies. “Pushing the boundaries of technology innovation is a fundamental part of our customer commitment: it means we stay a step ahead of the market, so we’re ready when our customers ask, ‘What’s next for us?’” said Buddy Bayer, chief operating officer at Colt Technology Services. “This trial has seen us build a powerful industry collaboration to explore the ‘what’s next.’ It’s tested the limits of infrastructure performance and capability across thousands of miles of land and sea with incredible networking technologies, and it’s demonstrated the power and potential of what can be achieved, without skipping a beat.” Federico Guillén, president of Nokia Network Infrastructure, added: “Such an ambitious project – to link two of the world’s most important financial hubs – sets the bar very high for network capacity, speed, security and reliability. This demonstration would simply not have been possible without the commitment of Nokia and our partners to the highest standards of innovation in networking technology. Together, we are redefining the art of the possible for IP and optical networks enabling cross-continental subsea and terrestrial communications.” “Our latest innovation represents a true game-changer for global connectivity,” said Joe Scattareggia, president, Windstream Wholesale. “By partnering with two extraordinary leaders in the industry, we’re enabling unprecedented bandwidth capabilities that are essential for driving AI-powered applications worldwide for our customers. “As an optical technology leader, Windstream Wholesale and our partners are establishing 800GbE as the next evolutionary advancement increase for wave services,” he continued. “This collaboration has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible, creating a network solution like no other. Together, we’re not just meeting the demands of the future – we’re shaping it.” Following the successful completion of the trial, the organizations are currently exploring options to bring 800GbE connectivity services to market for global business customers. p Visit Windstream Wholesale in Booth 108 and Show Floor Meeting Lounge 207. TransNexus Advances Robocall Mitigation Tools TransNexus added advanced robocall mitigation tools to its NexOSS platform. The new robocall mitigation tools are designed for intermediate service providers that want to increase the profitability of their network operations, reduce traceback requests and ensure best-of-class compliance with FCC robocall mitigation rules. To maximize protection, NexOSS is deployed as a SIP proxy between the intermediate service provider and its upstream customers. When unwanted calls are identified, NexOSS returns a SIP 4XX code to the upstream provider to prevent the call from reaching the intermediate provider’s session border controller. For fraudulent calls, NexOSS returns a SIP 603 decline message to block the call. In 2025, NexOSS will support 603+, an updated version of the SIP 603 message used to indicate that the call was Network Blocked and to provide blocking information to facilitate redress. NexOSS uses a gauntlet of filters to detect unwanted and scam calls. For example, this includes SHAKEN verification and blocking calls with invalid PASSporTs; blocking calls based on the originating service provider who signed the SHAKEN PASSporT; traffic pumping toll fraud detection; Wangiri fraud detection; CLI validation; integration with third-party robocall analytics providers; and the Somos Do Not Originate database. NexOSS also uses a global list of invalid and unallocated telephone numbers and extensive blacklisting tools by calling number, called number, IP address, and user agent. NexOSS can also add a SHAKEN PASSporT to unsigned calls, and host SHAKEN certificates – enabling service providers to sign the calls of their customers using their customers’ SHAKEN certificates. “Intermediate providers receive a flood of unwanted calls that are either short or zeroduration calls, robocalls, or scam calls,” said Rene Brun, vice president of Wholesale Services at Directo operating as ComputerTel Inc. “By keeping these calls off our network, NexOSS has provided excellent robocall mitigation compliance, but more importantly, it has improved the profitability of our network operations. We get better peering agreements when we deliver clean traffic.” “TransNexus has worked closely with NexOSS customers for twenty-five years to add the OSS/BSS features they need to manage their VoIP networks,” added Jim Dalton, TransNexus CEO. “We appreciate the collaboration with customers like Directo who help us develop the critical new tools needed by service providers today.” p Connect with TransNexus at Kiosk 2.
