Colt Technology Services has in- creased its coverage in Spain, adding 22 new provinces to its local reach in the country. The project, which com- menced in July, was completed this month. Provinces and cities such as Bilbao, San Sebastián, Granada, Pam- plona, Vigo, Alicante, Toledo, Guadala- jara, Valladolid, Burgos, Córdoba, Giro- na and Vitoria will all be accessible as part of the Colt IQ Network. Currently, the dense Colt IQ Network is comprised of more than 850 data centers and 27,000 global on-net buildings. Colt also recently launched in the U.S., an expansion implemented through a combination of partnering with important data centers in 13 cit- ies, as well as by bolstering Colt’s in- ternational submarine cable capacity. The Spain expansion builds upon the existing metro connectivity in Ma- drid, Barcelona and Valencia. As part of this coverage expansion in Spain, connectivity will be boosted to 1Gbps across the 22 new locations. ZenFi Networks and Cross River Fiber have closed their merger agree- ment, officially establishing an infra- structure company serving the New York and New Jersey metro region. The combined company, which will operate as ZenFi Networks, provides enterprises, carriers and wireless operators next-generation network access via its fiber optic network, dis- tributed colocation and wireless siting solutions. The merger creates a new re- gional network spanning 700 route miles of fiber optic network, 119 on- net buildings, 47 colocation facilities and nearly 6,000 outdoor wireless locations under contract. In addition, the company owns three special pur- pose tower sites that enable the high- frequency trading industry. ZenFi Networks will continue to be led by the combined management team. NJFX Announces Landing Destination for HAVFRUE Trans- atlantic Cable NJFX has announced that the HAV- FRUE transatlantic subsea cable system will land at its colocation campus in Wall, N.J. The HAVFRUE subsea cable will be constructed between New Jersey and Denmark, with branch connection to Ire- land and Norway, by a consortium that includes Aqua Comms, Bulk Infrastruc- ture, Google and Facebook. With the HAVFRUE system, NJFX now has four cable systems landing at its campus facility, including TGN1, TGN2, Seabras and the only subsea cable to directly connect New Jersey to New York, WALL-LI. The new HAVFRUE system joins other subsea cables on the NJFX campus that interconnect Brazil, the U.K. and Caribbean all in a single building. FiberLight Expands in Amarillo FiberLight has announced a 70-mile network expansion in Amarillo, Texas, to serve the Amarillo Independent School District (AISD) and the greater Amarillo business community with high-speed fi- ber services. AISD will leverage FiberLight’s dark fiber network to expand the school dis- trict’s digital capabilities across its 58 locations serving more than 33,000 students. The 70-mile network expan- sion will support key initiatives for AISD, including data processing, video confer- encing from Amarillo’s Region 16 Educa- tion Service Center, and a surge of con- nected smart devices including 19,000 Chromebooks, 14,000 iPads, and 13,000 desktops and laptops. The development is fully covered as part of the FCC’s E-Rate program. Colt Expands Presence in Spain ZenFi, Cross River Fiber Complete Merger Zettabytes MSP Network Diversity The average number of network vendors managed by an MSP varies significantly by MSP size, with larger MSPs more likely to deal with a high number of network vendors, show findings from a study by Auvik Networks. The vast majority of MSPs (72.4%) are managing four or more network vendors for their clients. Fully a third are managing six to 10 different vendors.
