1 2 WISPA PALOOZA SHOW I OCTOBER 14 - 18, 2019 www.bekabusinessmedia.com L Z OO 2019 COMMENT Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet 02 DAY 03 0 DAY 01 DAY 2 M inim, the AI-driven managed Wi-Fi and IoT security platform for ISPs, recently announced a suite of features now supported on the MikroTik platform, as well as becoming a Made for MikroTik partner. For any SaaS vendor, choosing hardware is a significant decision, but Minim is committed to working with best-in-class router manufac- turers – heavily influenced by feedback from its customer base. This is the story of Minim’s journey to Made for MikroTik. It all began when Minim acquired Aerez in January 2019. Aerez had built a leading managed Wi-Fi solution for WISPs on the MikroTik platform. “MikroTik is a popular choice for WISPs around the world, and the platform is incred- ibly extensible,” said Marc Parea, founder and former chief technology officer at Aerez and now a senior engineer at Minim. When Minim and Aerez joined forces, Minim had already integrated with a set of router brands by embedding their software agent in their firmware. Upon initial discovery, it soon became clear that with MikroTik, Minim could unleash an entirely new approach. “MikroTik offers a suite of management and reporting APIs in its RouterOS operating system, which allowed Minim to move our lightweight agent, Unum, to the cloud,” said Perea. The release of Cloud Unum gave the Minim platform new “super powers.” For one, it enabled MikroTik routers to report network telemetry to the platform for AI-driven fingerprinting and perfor- mance analysis. WISPs and their subscribers benefit from a clear picture of the home network for efficient assisted and self-care Wi-Fi management. Secondly, the Minim platform now supports MikroTik and connected device management, allowing WISPs to quickly and remotely resolve issues with features such as router speed test, device speed test, router reboots, fleet firmware management and port forwarding. In addition to these, subscribers can enjoy peace of mind with network security and digital parenting features that include IoT security scans and alerts, content filtering, schedules and device pausing. “The speed and power of the Minim platform are incredible,” commented Perea. “We’ve built a world-class SaaS architecture that can scale and fit any size network and doesn’t lock you into a single router vendor. The Aerez team has helped bring Mikrotik to Minim.” Minim didn’t stop at basic MikroTik support. Taking into account the number of dedicated radios, CPU power of each device and the latest firmware, it tuned Minim’s platform moni- toring to support several models. After a few months of performance testing, which included optimizing the Cloud Unum architecture to manage n number of concurrent calls across thousands of remote devices through a secure VPN tunnel, the company made it possible for WISPs to easily upgrade several MikroTik models to be managed by Minim. “It’s a game changer,” said Andy Piggott, senior vice president of customer success at Minim. “We’ve released a simple Minim Installer tool for WISPs to harness the power of Minim’s Wi-Fi management, IoT security, auto-firmware management and parental controls features with a few button clicks.” m Visit Minim at WISPAPALOOZA 2019 booth #612.
