The initial deployment is part of the Connect America Fund (CAFII) project, geared to provide broadband to millions of Americans in rural areas. t3 Broadband, a leading system integrator, managed project design and installation. Alaska Communi- cations will have deployed more than 160 JET systems by the end of 2018, with a multi-year plan for continued deployment across Alaska. “Alaska ranks as one of the harshest environ- ments in the U.S. for deploying fixed wireless broadband. Systems need to operate in freezing temperatures, high winds, ice and varying terrain. Despite these challenges, RADWIN’s systems operate consistently, allowing us to deliver service packages of up to 100Mbps to residential and business customers. With RADWIN’s JET equip- ment, we deliver high-speed, reliable broadband to communities that had been underserved for years,” said Alaska Communications senior vice president for shared services Randy Ritter. m Visit RADWIN at WISPAPALOOZA booth #235. E xteNet Systems has announced its field trial of a FCC Part 96-ready CBRS fixed wireless network with Inland Cellular, a wireless communications company serving southeastern Washington and north central Idaho. ExteNet initiated the field trial for Inland in September 2018 and commercial service rollout is currently targeted for early 2019. ExteNet’s virtualized LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) solution, bundled with Nokia’s Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment, has served as the foundation for Inland’s 4G LTE service throughout its serving area since 2016. Inland is now leveraging its existing mobile infrastructure to conduct a field trial with ExteNet on the 3.5GHz CBRS spectrum. This new network will help Inland further improve its customer experience and meet ongoing demand for ubiquitous mobile connectivity and increased network capacity. ExteNet’s LTE service offering is an attractive alternative to more traditional fiber or coaxial fixed broadband solutions, especially in expansive geographies or smaller communities, said the company. The 3GPP-compliant platform can serve as the foundation for enhanced communication services including LTE mobility, roaming, voice over LTE (VoLTE) and wireless enter- prise, while providing broadband speeds to amplify user experience. m Visit ExteNet at booth #348 at WISPA- PALOOZA to view a demonstration of the fixed wireless solution and learn more about its FCC Part 96-ready CBRS solutions. ExteNet vice president of business development and strategic initiatives Jason Osborne will also be participating in a panel session on LTE based fixed wireless solutions as an alternate approach to more traditional fixed broadband solutions on Wednesday, October 10, from 3-4 p.m. in Brasilia 1.
