channel management 2018 brought some positive changes to AT&T’s Alliance Channel program. First and foremost, the company made a fundamental shift by placing indirect channels at the center of its distribution strategy. Big Blue also made it a point to listen to feedback from solution providers selling AT&T ser- vices and, in turn, implemented a number of improvements, including new platforms and tools, simplified processes, ex- panded support and a new commission structure. “At the core of it all, these changes were about put- ting the solution provider in the middle of everything we do; making it easier and faster for our solution providers to sell more AT&T services, as well as more rewarding by offering them a choice of compensation plans,” explained Kevin Leonard, vice president of alternate channels at AT&T Business. These changes had a big impact. According to AT&T, solution provider partners doubled sales production last year. In response, AT&T has officially recognized 70 firms that have achieved 2019 Solution Provider Champion status, based on their fiscal performance from 2018.
