virtual reality Ecessa has announced significant enhancements to its SD-WAN feature set, to be included in 2019 firmware releases available to all Ecessa cus- tomers. The company has also rein- forced its guarantee to provide 100 percent successful, guided deploy- ments for all customers. Key features to expect in 2019 in- clude full router functionality through the addition of BGP and multicast fea- tures; enhanced security with Layer 7 next-generation firewall with IDS and IPS capabilities; native cloud-based SD-WAN instances for Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure, in addition to the product’s current VMware ESXi capabilities; and improved application awareness with deep packet inspection. Ecessa customers with current SLA contracts can upgrade to new firmware releases for free. Instruc- tions can be found on the Ecessa support portal. Network functions virtualization de- ployments are expected to accelerate with the advent of wireless 5G and the IoT, as 5G deployments grow and IoT devices increasingly connect to the wireless network, say executives at Vi- tria. New 5G network deployments will require a radically different network architecture, which will benefit from NFV and container technologies, say execs at the analytics company. For example, 5G relies on NFV to provide intelligence at the wireless edge to handle network slicing, traf- fic handling and routing. Connecting millions of IoT devices, meanwhile, requires service providers to adapt their core and edge networks. NFV enables this adaptation by facilitating the required improvements for mobile edge computing, analytics and per- formance monitoring. Cloud Computing Concepts (C3) has announced the general availability of a new SD-WAN service offering. Powered by VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud, C3’s service allows it to meet the challenging connectivity and transport needs of its clients and part- ners more effectively, said the company. VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud is a powerful branch and edge connectivity platform that combines the economics and flexibility of a real-time network over- lay with the deployment speed, scale and automation of cloud-delivered services. With VMware SD-WAN, organizations of all sizes and in any industry can support application growth, network agility and simplified branch implementations and can optimize access to cloud data centers and SaaS applications. Ecessa Announces SD-WAN Upgrades IoT, 5G Could Push NFV Deployment C3 Selects VMware for SD-WAN Service Offering FatPipe Announces SD-WAN for Azure FatPipe Networks recently announced the general avail- ability of FatPipe SD-WAN for Azure through the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. The plat- form enables Microsoft Azure customers that use Office 365 and other cloud-based applica- tions to get a better experience by overcoming the need to reconnect every so often when the sessions break, said the company. This is especially important for customers and offices where large groups have to use Office 365 or other cloud-hosted applications, or when a single line connection to Azure is not adequate to ad- dress line drop issues. FatPipe SD-WAN for Azure is built around FatPipe’s patented MPSec technology, which provides “the highest possible WAN transmission se- curity,” said FatPipe, “an order of magnitude above standard encryption.” FatPipe’s in-built WAN optimization, meanwhile, can significantly reduce band- width needs. Building on FatPipe’s strat- egy of licensable features, Fat- Pipe for Azure can be licensed with FatPipe’s full suite of fea- tures including SD-WAN, WAN optimization, network visibility and reporting, VPN and QoS. FatPipe for Azure is licensed using Azure’s “Bring Your Own License” model. 52 Channel Vision | March - April, 2019
