Driven largely by the ever- increasing number of cloud-based applications and the subsequent traf- fic increases on networks, the global SD-WAN market size is expected to grow from $1 billion in 2018 to $4.1 billion by 2023, representing a compound annual growth rate of 32.7 percent during that forecast period, predict analysts at ResearchAnd- Markets. SD-WAN, in short, provides better cloud connectivity than MPLS does and enables network operators to save capital and reduce operation- al expenses, said the research firm. The service providers segment is expected to account for a higher market share during the forecast period. “Currently, service providers are in the process of modernizing WAN offerings to meet customers’ demand for bandwidth and connect- ing customers to the cloud,” said ResearchAndMarkets. “This has boosted the growth of the SD-WAN market, resulting in the increased deployment of SD-WAN solutions across the globe.” Service providers also are increasingly adopting SD- WAN technology to offset declining MPLS revenues, as well as cater to new customer segments. Among the deployment types, ResearchAndMarkets expects cloud deployment to dominate the market in the future as the model offers the benefits and features of on-premises along with the added benefit of connecting to a virtual or cloud gateway. Furthermore, busi- nesses and enterprises are moving to cloud-based applications, “thus the demand and adoption of cloud- based SD-WAN is going to increase over time,” said the firm. Among regions, North America is expected to grow at the highest CAGR during the forecast period. AVANT Communications has joined Open Systems’ global channel partner program providing AVANT access to the Open Systems Secure SD-WAN solution.
