Buyers Side Tech Buying to theTop As office technology becomes increasingly important to company strategies and competitiveness and less about just operations or “keeping the lights on,” line of business departments not only become more involved in IT purchase decisions, but that decision-making process is going right to the top. According to a survey of Spice- works’ membership of IT executives, the company CEO/ president is involved in about 40 percent of technology purchase decisions. It should be noted, however, that the larger the company, the less likely the CEO/president will be involved and the more likely a business line director or manager is involved. In organizations with less than 99 employees, the CEO/ president is part of half of technol- ogy purchases. That number is closer to 20 percent of decisions as companies get larger, while line of business managers are in- volved in 54 percent of technology purchase among company with 5,000 or more employees. o Source: 451 Research Schools Have Rapidly Added Wi-Fi to Classrooms Other 3% 3% Currently In Two Years Business decision makers involved in thechnology purchase decisions Data Center Physical Capacity Under Construction by Region Source: Spiceworks Source: IHS Markit 38% 32% 28% 28% 27% 20% 9% 40% 35% 30% 25% 20% 15% 10% 5% 0% CEO/President Business Line Director Finance Procurement Business Line Manager COO/CFO/ CMO Professional Staff Legal 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 1H19 North America EMEA Asia Pacific CALA 2H19 1H20 Capacity (sq ft.
