Win Some Tools of the Trade Atheral, Mware Partner on IPTV/OTT Platform SWG Announces Repair Contract Win FCC Takes Action on Spurring Secondary Markets for Spectrum A theral LLC, the white-label and wholesale cloud solutions provider for internet service providers (ISPs) and managed service providers (MSPs), and Mware Solutions Ltd, a leading IPTV/OTT solutions provider, have partnered to provide a white-label cloud-based IPTV/OTT platform for the North America market. Atheral’s expanded white-label offerings help ISPs and MSPs compete in the ultra-compet- itive broadband market by allowing providers without the technical capability or ability to spend capital on expensive soft-switches or TV headend to launch their own service by rebranding Atheral’s cloud-based solutions, said the company. These solutions are geo- redundant, highly available and leave plenty of profit for providers. “We are excited to partner with Mwave Solu- tions to bring an OPEX-based, white-label IPTV model to the North America market where competition in the middleware space has lacked for so long,” said Daniel White, co-founder of Atheral LLC. “Our partnership with Mwave will allow tier-3 and tier-2 service providers to compete against the largest tier-1 carriers with an equal, if not superior, IPTV service.” The IPTV/OTT service includes interac- tive TV such as CatchUP TV, Pause TV and Replay TV and will be offered on all the important TV screens (Android Mobile and TV, Apple iOS, Amazon Fire, ROKU, Samsung Tizen, LG WebOS3.0, WebTV and many popular Linux- and Android-based set top boxes). Content will be offered from all major networks and providers along with local chan- nels, pay-per-view and on-demand content, with the capability for the provider to develop their own channel line-up and select from 12 different interfaces. m Visit Atheral LLC at WISPAMERICA booth #630. R ise Broadband, one of America’s largest fixed wireless broadband service provider, has initiated a multi-year repair agreement with SWG Inc., an industry leader in wireless broadband and microwave repair. “This repair program with SWG will help extend the life cycle of our network infra- structure currently deployed across our 16-state coverage area,” said Preston Dryer, manager of strategic procurement for Rise Broadband. “This gives us an additional layer of reliable, high-quality support for all of our field-based assets.” “We are excited to provide Rise Broad- band with the quality repair service that many expanding networks have come to expect from SWG,” said SWG Inc. president Nathan Peterson. “We have been a long-time partner with Rise Broadband and are looking forward to our continued relationship.” m Visit SWG Inc. at WISPAMERICA booth #821. T he Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA) is encouraged by last week’s FCC action, which creates a rulemaking to implement aspects of the MOBILE NOW Act. Small rural providers, including WISPA members that provide fixed wireless broadband to millions of Americans, face a multitude of challenges in serving their commu- nities. Chief among them is access to spec- trum. The Commission should be commended for its efforts here to close the digital divide, leading, WISPA hopes, to changes in its parti- tioning, disaggregation and leasing rules that will serve those important goals. “We applaud the FCC for seeking comment on how to spur secondary markets for spec- trum,” stated WISPA president Claude Aiken. “Far too often, small and rural providers have limited spectrum access because licensed spec- trum lies fallow in rural America. A more robust secondary market could enable small providers to gain access to licensed spectrum. We thank Chairman Pai for including our proposals in this item and look forward to working with the FCC to ensure that spectrum in rural America is put to its best and highest use.” m Telrad Appoints Shalev as CTO T elrad Networks, a global provider of LTE telecom solutions, recently announced the appointment of Eran Shalev as its new chief technology officer. Shalev will be responsible for the continued development of Telrad’s technology roadmap and path to 5G, harnessing his extensive experience of 28 years in the telecom industry. During his career, Shalev held various management positions at Nokia including busi- ness development director. He previously worked at leading companies such as IAF, Cellcom, Golden Lines and TTI in various roles in engi- neering, business development and marketing. He also founded two MVNOs in Israel, where he deployed both 3G and 4G technologies. For the last few years, Shalev served as CEO of Cellact Communications, an Israeli 4G MVNO. “We believe that Eran’s background in telecom, mobility and software will ensure that we maintain a leadership position as we deliver our next-generation broadband wireless access solutions to operators,” said Chris Daniels, pres- ident of Telrad’s wireless division. m Visit Telrad at WISPAMERICA booth #407.
