DAY 2 2 2 WISPAMERICA I MARCH 6 - 9, 2023 www.bekabusinessmedia.com Siklu, JTM Square Complete Wireless Link in Dubai Siklu and its integrator partner in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) JTM Square, have announced the recent completion of a 14-km high-capacity, millimeter wave wireless link over ocean water from a high-rise building located on the Dubai shoreline to a hotel resort community offshore in the Persian Gulf. The link provides prioritized voice and data services and meets the customer’s specification of 5 Gbps minimum capacity and can provide up to 10 Gbps when the customer requires it. The link replaces a traditional microwave link that could not keep up with the growing demand for internet and other higher bandwidth requirements and was installed instead of another option considered – deploying multiple microwave links. An underwater fiber connection also was considered briefly but rejected as infeasible for various reasons including economic. This project uses Siklu’s EtherHaul series radios, which operate in the 80GHz band and represents a significant technical achievement as JTM Square overcame difficult environmental conditions such as high humidity and a turbulent atmosphere to prove that a millimeter wave-based system could reach such a distance. This also is the first time such a network has been deployed in the UAE. Using its experience with similar longrange millimeter wave links deployed around the world, Siklu assisted JTM Square with the project design and network parameters. JTM Square then completed an impressive feat of alignment, as the link used two-foot dual-band antennas (Siklu DL series). For this project, Siklu used its field-proven trademarked ExtendMM solution, which incorporates a backup microwave link of five GHz.
