UK communications and IT services
company PCI Services is now offer-
ing carrier-grade hosted telephony
and unified communications (UC) on
a pay-per-seat-per-month basis, mak-
ing these services accessible to SMEs
for the first time. The services allow
companies to combine their existing IT
infrastructure with Unify OpenScape
Enterprise UC software-as-a-service
(SaaS) to simplify and improve their
business communications and produc-
tivity while reducing operating costs.
There are no contracts and minimal
capital expenditure.
Hosted telephony and UC services
are popular with large organizations,
but their capital and running costs
meant they were too expensive for
smaller companies. By offering new
hosted telephony and UC tariffs, PCI
Services will enable companies of
every size to leverage the benefits of
a reliable, scalable and cost-effective
communications system tailored to their
individual needs, said the company.
“The traditional on-premises tele-
phone PBX market is in decline,” said
Joe Olabode, managing director. “The
bar has moved – the customer no longer
has to estimate what they might need in
the future and pay up-front for it. They
can choose what they need today know-
ing that they can simply scale up or down
as the need arises.”
China Telecom Rolls Out
MVNO in Hong Kong
C
hina Telecom Global (CTG) has announced
that Hong Kong’s Office of the Communications
Authority (OFCA) has licensed the company
to offer mobile virtual network operator (MVNO)
services in Hong Kong.
CTG has expanded its mobile
network footprint into Hong Kong with
its CTExcel brand, giving corporate
clients and consumers access to 4G
networks around the world through a
single SIM card. Hong Kong marks
the fourth international market in its
repertoire, adding to the company’s
other launches in the United King-
dom in 2012, France in 2013 to cover
the European region and the United
States in 2015.
Integrating its telecommunications
infrastructure from all four markets into
one mobile network aligns with CT-
Excel’s vision of offering international
high-speed 4G LTE service and mobile
Wi-Fi in more than 100 countries, as
well as the ability to perform IDD calls
and SMS at cost-effective rates.
By leveraging the network and
service capabilities of its mobile busi-
ness in Mainland China and Macau,
CTExcel now offers Hong Kong cus-
tomers a seamless and consistent
mobile connection to different regions.
It has also unveiled plans to roll out its
“one-card-multiple-numbers” SIM card
solution, which will allow customers
to activate local numbers in multiple
regions on a single SIM. The initiative
caters especially to those who have
close connections in different markets,
allowing them to be contacted via local
mobile numbers in a more convenient
and cost-effective way.
