DAY 1

O

mnitron Systems, WebNMS and VeEX

have partnered to enable software-

defined networking (SDN) orchestra-

tion of MEF CE 2.0 services. The partnership also

successfully demonstrated elastic delivery of

service level agreements (SLA) assured CE 2.0

services over a multivendor network.

The SDN orchestration included elastic service

provisioning, fault isolation and dynamic bandwidth

on-demand with service activation and assur-

ance via a cloud-based customer SLA portal.

Performed at the Metro Ethernet Forum,

the proof-of-concept demonstration was

deployed on a network that consisted of 10G

and 1G protected G.8032 fiber rings with SLA-

assured Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC)

services among multiple end users.

The demonstration included demarca-

tion and aggregation devices from Omnitron

Systems, test equipment fromVeEX and the

WebNMS Symphony platform from Zoho

Corporation.

What the performance showed was that the

network accepted dynamic service requests from

end users through a cloud-based customer portal,

then automated the provisioning and remote

activation testing of the requested service in real-

time. Customers also received confirmation of

service activation and continuous performance

monitoring updates through the portal.

The WebNMS portal configured Omnitron aggre-

gation and demarcation devices to provide elastic

service creation and provisioning with MEF CE2.0

service attributes such as port assignments, VLAN-

IDs, Ethernet virtual connection (EVC) creation,

policing, shaping and service operations, administra-

tion and maintenance configuration. End-to-end

traffic management provisioning included bandwidth

profiles, class of service profiles and OAM probes for

multiple EVCs and classes of service.

Once the service was provisioned on the Omni-

tron devices, theWebNMS activation portal remotely

controls the VeEX UX400 test set to validate the integ-

rity of the end-to-end service with RFC 2544 and ITU-T

Y.1564 running multiple simultaneous test flows.

Since the Proof-of-concept demonstration, Omni-

tron andVeEx have enhanced interoperability. Omnitron

devices now can initiate and respond automatically to

Loop Up/Loop Down commands to and from theVeEX

test equipment to minimize truck rolls and reduces

service provider operating expenses.

Faults were created in the 10G and 1G rings,

and detected by the WebNMS multi-layer network

portal. Provisioned EVC circuits continue to deliver

the services despite the faults in the G.8032 rings.

Fault root cause analysis was performed through

the WebNMS alarm service portal and the faults

were identified and remedied through the WebNMS

Symphony “ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus” system

that notifies network operating center

personnel and automatically generates a

trouble ticket.

Dynamic, on-demand bandwidth provi-

sioning was demonstrated with theWebNMS

cloud-based customer portal via a RESTful

application programming interface with traffic

simulated using the VeEX UX400 that increased

traffic above the provisioned committed infor-

mation rate (CIR).

The customer dynamically adjusted the band-

width, the new service was provisioned and a

service activation test was performed to confirm

the service adhered to the SLA parameters.

Together, the three companies deliver

dynamic provisioning and operation of

network services that enables migration to

SDN orchestration.

End users benefit from the elastic, assured

services and continuous SLA performance moni-

toring through a convenient, easy-to-use portal. Service

providers benefit from automation that improves opera-

tional efficiency, increased customer satisfaction, reten-

tion and new revenue generating services.

C

SF Corp. announced today the rollout of its

8MS TeXT “Texting on Toll-Free Number”

solution, which it will be demonstrate on in

COMPTEL PLUS exhibit hall.

8MS TeXT is CSF’s text-enabling solution for toll-

free numbers and is part of the 8MS Toll Free Provi-

sioning and Least Cost Routing (LCR) Software Suite.

Key advantages of 8MS and 8MS TeXT are:

• Addition of “text enablement” capability to

the market-leading 8MS Toll-Free Provisioning

and LCR solution.

• Carriers, resellers and agents can enable texting

and set their own pricing on any end user toll-

free number earning significant residual profits.

• CSF’s 8MS TeXT customer portal is custom

branded so a carrier, reseller or agent can let its

toll-free number end users manage their own

texts using their branded interface.

• Provisioning and text delivery application

program interfaces (API) allow for automation

and customized user experiences.

• CSF’s 8MS TeXT TDR (Text Detail Report) Portal

is used by the carrier, reseller or agent to view a

customer’s usage and bill by text if desired.

• 8MS TeXT is a turnkey solution, with provi-

sioning, registry, text delivery, mediation (usage),

API access and multitiered and custom-branded

end user portal capabilities included.

CSF is excited to roll out 8MS TeXT,” said Frank

Lauria, executive vice president at CSF Corp. “This is

a great opportunity for carriers, resellers, agents and

RespOrgs to profit from the new and exciting capa-

bility of texting on toll-free numbers.

“With a whole new generation of customers

that prefer to interact via text, and years of invest-

ment in branding of their toll-free voice vanity

numbers, this new capability is not only logical but

highly synergistic with their existing toll-free voice

services,” Lauria added.

CSF provides toll-free number management, provi-

sioning, texting and LCR software. With more than

100 RespOrg and carrier customers, CSF’s flagship

software product 8MS makes more than 75 percent

of all changes to toll-free numbers in the industry.

CSF’s customers save time and money with its toll-

free number management, and they can reduce their

external carrier costs more than 20 percent by using

CSF’s LCR and route optimization software.
