DAY 1

A

ccedian Networks has begun ship-

ping its network function virtualization

(NFV)-based vCPE solution for advanced,

network wide monitoring without the

need for expensive, high-end test equipment.

The SkyLIGHT VCX controls virtual network

functions (VNFs) on “bite-sized” programmable

hardware modules. The solution is a unique virtual

customer equipment (vCPE) approach that realizes

the cost and agility benefits of NFV without sacri-

ficing performance, precision or requiring changes to

existing operations infrastructure or procedures.

By eliminating key cost, scalability and coverage

barriers to network performance visibility, service

providers can ensure a better quality of experience

(QoE) for users in a more cost-effective manner.

Accedian’s vCPE solution offers the same perfor-

mance as legacy, stand-alone hardware appliances

but within hardware modules that are up to 70

percent less expensive, draw 90 percent less power

and require no rack-space at the customer premises.

“SkyLIGHT VCX is radically more efficient

approach to network performance monitoring, fusing

the best NFV-based engineering principles with

the highest-performing programmable processing

yet available,” said Keith Donahue, vice president

of product management and services for Accedian

Networks. “It retains the minimum hardware required

at each monitoring point, while using NFV to turn

ultracompact modules into full-blown test sets,

probes, and analyzers.”

Since 2005, Accedian has delivered platforms

assuring hundreds of thousands of cell sites globally.

It is recognized as a performance assurance solution

specialist for mobile networks and enterprise-to-data

center connectivity.

Open, multivendor interoperable and programmable

solutions go beyond standard-based performance assur-

ance to deliver Network State+, the most complete view

of network health. Automated service activation testing

and real-time performance monitoring feature unrivalled

precision and granularity, while H-QoS traffic conditioning

optimizes service performance.

Accedian will provide live demonstrations of the

SkyLIGHT VCX solution in booth 118. For more informa-

ransNexus, an innovator in VoIP manage-

ment solutions since 1997, released Shield,

a dynamic new tool for preventing telecom

fraud attacks stemming from the use of

premium rate numbers.

“Hacking PBXs and pumping traffic to premium

rate numbers has become more lucrative to fraud-

sters as businesses transition to SIP trunking,” said

Jim Dalton, founder of TransNexus. “The prolifera-

tion of SIP hacking tools, hacking tutorials on the

Internet and an abundance of websites offering

premium rate number services with convenient

revenue sharing provide a complete ecosystem that

makes traffic pumping fraud an easy endeavor for

quick cash.”

Shield contains a preloaded, comprehensive blacklist

of 100 premium rate number providers and more than

50,000 known international premium rate number

ranges covering millions of numbers. The blacklist is

updated weekly and includes high-risk numbers identi-

fied fromTransNexus honeypots and other sources.

Customers can enhance their Shield application

by uploading a custom set of blacklist and white list

numbers into the product.

Shield is integrated seamlessly into the inno-

vative least cost routing, fraud prevention, and

fraud detection solutions that TransNexus offers.

The merge with the NexOSS-FC, NexOSS, and

SDReporter solutions allows calls being made to

premium rate numbers in the Shield application to

be blocked or diverted automatically.

“Fraudsters can collect tens of thousands of dollars

per day through the use of premium rate numbers”

Dalton said. “Fraud detection and control is critical,

but preventing fraud before it happens is even better.

“Businesses are looking for a preventive measure

to protect their network, and Shield is the additional

layer of security that will further mitigate fraud risk

and prevent fraud attacks,” he continued. “When the

Shield database is combined with the SIP Analytics

of our NexOSS-FC product, fraudulent calls can be

blocked at your session border controller before they

can enter network.”

TransNexus is a software development company

specializing in applications for fraud detection, dynamic

least cost routing, number portability, traffic and profit-

ability analysis for Voice over IP networks.

While TransNexus maintains interoperability part-

nerships with strategic vendors such as BroadSoft,

Metaswitch, Oracle Acme Packet and Taqua, the

TransNexus solution is interoperable with any SIP

based VoIP system.

Nexus production visit booth 521 or go to
