DAY 1

Networks that know

all the shortcuts.

To get new services to market faster, it takes a network that knows who

needs what resources and how to self-adjust on the fly–automatically.

Your ideas. Connected.

lpheus Communications announced the

second phase of fiber expansion in Austin,

Dallas and Houston extending the existing

fiber network to an additional 3,000 build-

ings; bringing the total near-net building count to just

more than 6,000.

With this expansion, the Alpheus fiber network would

reach more than 40,000 businesses in these fast growing

business markets. The latest expansion includes down-

town Austin, with the addition of more than 1,800 near-

net buildings in the central business district.

Alpheus’ fiber expansion project, which was

announced last June, leverages its fiber-connected

network of 300-plus points-of-presence (PoPs) and

central offices (COs) to connect quickly to end-user

business locations.

The company’s PoPs and COs are built as aggrega-

tion points from which Alpheus can extend its fiber

efficiently. The broad coverage of the Alpheus network

enables the company to stay in close proximity to a

large number of businesses, delivering faster, more

reliable fiber connections.

“Fiber networks are increasingly sought out by

businesses because they provide superior quality

and incredibly high bandwidth options,” said

Alpheus CEO Scott Widham. “With this expansion

project, we are investing to provide Texas busi-

nesses the network infrastructure they need for

their Internet, voice, video and cloud solutions now

and in the future.

“Initially, we focused on Houston and Dallas, now

we are adding the Austin market based on demand,”

Widham continued. “We look forward to continuing

our expansion and bringing high-speed fiber access to

more Texas businesses.”

Alpheus Communications is a leading provider of

Texas metro-regional fiber and networking solutions.

It owns facilities in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas-

Fort Worth, Houston, the Rio Grande Valley and San

Antonio. The company is flexible, content-neutral and

responsive to customer needs when low-latency and

uptime are essential.

As the preferred fiber backbone for Metro Texas,

Alpheus is in a unique position to support mission-

critical information technology functions and cloud

computing solutions through its resilient SSAE

16-compliant data center platforms for colocation

and disaster recovery.
