2600Hz Introduces Desktop, Mobile Apps for Unified Communications

2600Hz, a subsidiary of advanced communications services provider Ooma Inc., has introduced new DesktopComm and MobileComm apps for its unified communications platform. The apps are designed to enable users to work on the device and in the location of their choice while allowing them to make and receive voice calls, transfer and park calls, as well as record, the company said.

Additional features include access to company contacts, team chats, sending and receiving electronic faxes, call logs, and starting or joining video meetings using the desktop app or via a browser.

DesktopComm is available for Windows and Mac. MobileComm is designed for iOS and Android.

The new releases are part of 2600Hz’s API-first solution that brings together Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) and Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) on a single code base. The feature set is paired with customization options through more than 300 open APIs, all packaged in a white-label solution, officials said. Ooma acquired 2600Hz in 2023.

“Ooma acquired 2600Hz two years ago because we saw the huge potential in expanding the platform’s capabilities—both for our own Ooma Office business phone system, which is built on 2600Hz, and for service providers looking to control their destiny when offering UCaaS,” said Chris Burgy, senior vice president of corporate development at Ooma.
