Beyond Identity Releases Passwordless Secure Customers Authentication

Beyond Identity released its new Secure Customers solution, for securing information via passwordless authentication. The multi-factor authentication (MFA) vendor noted that this product helps to eliminate account takeover threat, accelerate new account conversions and reduce supply chain risk.

The “zero-friction” passwordless authentication option is available across native and web applications, with integration available across identity providers (including Auth0, ForgeRock and Keycloak) and SDKs (such as Swift, Kotlin and JavaScript, with additional languages to be added “shortly”). Authentication also does not require a second device or separate app download. Beyond Identity’s Secure Customers also supports open standards, robust documentation and dedicated developer support.

The solution also leverages a secure approach that likewise powers public/private key cryptography and X.509 certificates, with no certificate management; private keys are securely stored in the TPM or secure enclave on the customer’s mobile device or PC to create a unique “tamper-proof” credential and “cryptographically verifiable” identity that is bound to a device and cannot be moved or copied.

Other benefits include:

  • Compliance with PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication standards.
  • Real-time user and device risk-signal capture.
  • Tamper-proof credentials backed by private keys.
  • Cross-platform support with native and web applications, as well as credential migration between apps.
  • Powered by cloud-native platform to support elastic scalability and flexible extensibility with existing application tooling.

“As long as passwords continue to exist – no matter how they are hidden or ‘secured’ – criminals have an open door into applications, customer accounts, and databases,” said TJ Jermoluk, the co-founder and CEO of Beyond Identity. “The only way to fully protect customers from account takeover attacks is to eradicate the password completely from both the user experience and application database. Customer relationships are built on trust, and being able to offer customers this unprecedented level of security and ease of use will drive long-term loyalty.”
