Charter Logs 10 Percent Q2 Growth on Strong Advertising Sales and Mobile Increases

Charter Communications logged strong revenue growth of 10 percent Y2Y for the 2020 second quarter ended June 30, 2021, with strong increases in Advertising Sales (65 percent) and Mobile (up 68 percent) offering significant contributions.

Company sales totaled $12.8 billion, compared to 2020 Q2 revenues of $11.7 billion. Of this amount, Residential revenue grew 7 percent Y2Y to $10 billion, while Commercial increased 6 percent to $1.7 billion. The aforementioned Advertising and Mobile segments, meanwhile, were $411 million and $519 million, respectively.

Within Charter’s Resident revenue space, the company recorded:

  • Internet revenue growth of 15 percent to $5.2 billion.
  • Flat video sales of $4.4 billion.
  • Voice revenue decline of 13 percent, to $394 million.

Commercial revenues, likewise, included:

  • SMB revenue increase of 6 percent to $1.04 billion.
  • Enterprise sales growth of 5 percent to $636 million.

Charter’s profits, meanwhile, were $1.02 billion, or $5.29 per share, marking a 33 percent uptick from 21Q2 earnings of $766 million, or $3.63 per share. The company also noted upticks in Residential (29,660) and SMB (2,104) customer relationships, as well as:

  • 400 Internet net additions (29,634)
  • 50 fewer Video customers (16,012)
  • 78 less Voice customers (10,273)
  • 265 Mobile Lines net additions (2,940)
