Cinia Group Oy, a Finland-based designer, builder and operator of intelligent connectivity and ICT solutions, has inked a deal with The David Ross Group (DRG), specialists in planning, engineering, operating and commercializing undersea fiber optic telecommunication infrastructures worldwide.
The two will provide asset and capacity sales for C-Lion1, the new secure, subsea fiber optic cable running under the Baltic Sea connecting Finland and Germany. The David Ross Group affiliate, United Cable Company (UCC), will provide Cinia with a presence outside of Europe and offer global connectivity solutions to new target groups.
“The David Ross Group has been a trusted advisor through every phase of our undersea cable project and we look forward to their continued support as we enter operations,” states Jukka-Pekka Joensuu, EVP of Cinia Group Oy.
“C-Lion1 offers a new route between Finland and Western Europe that opens up diversity alternatives for many countries in the region. The globally recognized subsea experts at DRG and UCC will help us make these services available to a broader market,” added Cinia partnership director Eeva Liljanto.
Network operators continually seek to improve resiliency and latency performance, said Eric Gutshall, founder and global head of asset and capacity sales of UCC: “C-Lion1 is a terrific asset that supports both. The timing for this next phase of the relationship couldn’t be better with C-Lion1 planning to enter commercial service later this month.”
