DE-CIX has announced that MASS-IX has become an IX Turnkey Connectivity Partner, directly interconnecting MASS-IX and DE-CIX New York. This strategic partnership empowers MASS-IX customers to seamlessly connect and peer with networks in New York, without needing to pay for transport to the city or remote cross connect charges.
The partnership is set to improve connectivity in the Northeast, providing significant improvements in latency, with one-hop connectivity to New York networks, as well as access to DE-CIX’s additional domestic and international exchanges. The first network, TOWARDEX, is already connected and exchanging traffic with networks in New York over the new partnership.
The data center and carrier neutral MASS-IX connects more than 70 networks with close to 3 Tb of connected capacity. Available in more than 12 data centers throughout the Boston market, the IX has a strong selection of educational networks and local ISPs and handles peak data traffic of over 300 Gbps.
Connectivity to DE-CIX New York allows MASS-IX to offer its customers access to the wide range of content and other networks available in New York but not locally in New England. Using the DE-CIX backbone, New England networks interested in more global connectivity can effectively join the DE-CIX ecosystem via MASS-IX to not only access other large exchanges in the U.S. but also DE-CIX’s international IXs, including those in Mexico, Brazil, Europe and throughout world.
