Communications and technology solutions provider Granite Telecommunications ranked No. 2 on the Boston Business Journal’s (BBJ) Top Charitable Contributors list after giving more than $46 million in cash and in-kind donations to charitable organizations in Massachusetts in 2024. Granite has appeared on the annual list 17 consecutive years, including landing the No. 1 spot four times since 2009.
The BBJ list ranks companies by total charitable contributions in Massachusetts. To be considered, businesses must report at least $100,000 in Massachusetts-based charitable giving for the prior calendar year.
In total, Granite contributed more than $51 million in charitable donations nationwide last year. Its philanthropic initiatives focus on medical research, housing insecurity, education, food access and veteran support. Company employees also log hundreds of volunteer service hours each year, officials said.
“This honor is a reflection of Granite’s deeply held belief that business success and community impact go hand in hand,” said Rob Hale, president and CEO of Granite. “We’re proud to support the incredible nonprofit organizations doing meaningful work across Massachusetts and beyond, and we’re inspired by our teammates who continually give their time, energy and resources to help others.”
Granite’s philanthropic approach includes building long-term partnerships with nonprofit organizations and using its platform to strategically drive awareness and resources. For example, the company’s annual “Saving by Shaving” fundraiser in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital has raised more than $37 million to support pediatric cancer research over the last seven years, Granite officials said.
“We don’t just give to give; we invest in outcomes,” said Hale. “Our goal is to create lasting, measurable impact by supporting causes where we can be part of the solution and help communities thrive.”
