Htek, Uboss Interop for BroadSoft

Htek, the global provider of enterprise class IP handsets, has completed interoperability and certification on the Uboss OSS/BSS platform.

The integration sees the Htek U900 series of IP terminals take their configuration, including all feature buttons, dial-by-name directories and services from the Uboss Cloud Management. The partnership between the two companies is aimed at BroadSoft-based service providers.

Previously there has been a disconnect between the IP handsets and the BroadSoft switch, typically because the SIP handsets are built to connect to many different soft switch platforms. For BroadSoft Service providers, this meant “orphaned” buttons or functions and confused menus on IP phones. This Uboss enhancement means that there is no local intelligence in the Htek handset and all functionality is delivered from the Uboss cloud. This includes directories, where the user has dial-by-name across the BroadSoft Group and Personal directories.

“We are proud with this accreditation with Uboss and that our joint technology platforms create a more supportable IP phone integration for service providers and an enhanced user experience for their customers,” said Navy Ding, chief executive officer at Htek.

Dave Dadds, CEO at Uboss added, “The challenge for service providers is in bringing together different vendors to deliver the right communications mix for their customers. Uboss integrates their BroadSoft platform with different cloud elements, including CRM, cellular and e-commerce.”

TheUboss-Htek integration also allows providers to deploy key-system functionality popular on legacy CPE systems. Dadds explained, “Key and lamp functionality is widely deployed in the SMB sector, which is the sweet spot for hosted PBX. This capability will ease migration to the cloud for end users that rely on this functionality. This is another example of how Uboss can help productize the full capabilities of BroadSoft and allow providers to bring these solutions to market.”

Uboss service providers now can control the configuration of the Htek handsets for users, including the firmware levels on, specifying the button functions, remote rebooting and seeing live IP registrations and calls all from within the Uboss portal. The handset becomes an extension of Uboss with all the intelligence in the cloud rather than on the local device. Advanced functions such as flexible seating, call recording pause/resume, call park, call-center operation and inbound alpha tagging are all delivered as standard.
