Lumen Launches Defender AMDR Solution with Microsoft Sentinel

Lumen Technologies has launched Lumen Defender, an advanced managed detection and response (AMDR) offering with Microsoft Sentinel. The fully managed, cloud-native security solution merges Lumen’s global network intelligence with Microsoft’s security platform, the company said.

Lumen AMDR with Microsoft Sentinel combines Lumen’s security operations center (SOC) services, threat hunting and monitoring. At its core, the solution leverages Microsoft Sentinel with curated Black Lotus Labs (BLL) threat intelligence to help organizations proactively detect and respond to sophisticated cyber threats “with deep context driven by significant internet visibility,” officials said.

In addition to flexible SIEM integration, the solution offers advanced management for access to security data, alerts and management tools to enhance visibility and control. Via Microsoft Sentinel, users have options to integrate all Microsoft Defender XDR capabilities, while advanced threat intelligence includes access to Lumen Defender Threat Feed for Microsoft Sentinel in preview. It also has co-managed or completely outsourced options.

“As digital innovation accelerates across cloud, edge, and AI, security must evolve from being bolted on to being built in,” said Martin Nystrom, Vice President of Black Lotus Labs and Product Security at Lumen. “We’re shaping a future where the network itself becomes the first line of defense—seeing, understanding and stopping threats before they reach critical systems. Extending protection beyond the network’s perimeter, Black Lotus Labs intelligence powers this proactive defense.”

Black Lotus Labs is Lumen’s threat research arm. It’s designed to deliver high-level network visibility into global internet traffic. Its research team leverages malware reverse engineering, AI/ML-driven anomaly detection, and botnet infrastructure mapping to uncover and disrupt threats before they reach customer environments, officials said.

“This collaboration delivers network-driven threat visibility and 24/7 managed security operations—empowering organizations to detect, respond to and mitigate advanced cyber threats with speed and confidence,” said Vasu Jakkal, CVP Microsoft Security. “By combining Lumen’s global backbone intelligence with Microsoft Sentinel, we’re helping our mutual customers strengthen their security posture and stay ahead of evolving threats.”
