Mako Networks to Provide Secure Networking to ExxonMobil Locations

Mako Networks, which offers secure, cloud-managed networks for distributed enterprises, reached an agreement with energy and petrochemical company ExxonMobil. With this detail, authorized Exxon and Mobil retail locations throughout the U.S. will employ Mako Networks as their managed network services provider (MNSP).

The contract includes Mako’s suite of secure networking solutions, including the Mako System. This PCI-certified, cloud-managed, carrier-independent networking solution allows distributed enterprises to more easily create secure, high-performance business networks that support credit card transactions, self-service gas, self-checkout, tap-to-pay, loyalty apps and other digital experiences.

The Mako System will specifically support deployments of digital initiatives to boost operational efficiency and customer convenience, ensuring that networks are secure and compliant.

It is expected to connect and manage tens to thousands of sites via a secure, reliable, scalable and cost-effective cloud management system (CMS) that supports critical services, including SD-WAN, next-gen firewall, VPN connections and cellular failover, in addition to active management and reporting with single-pane secure network controls.

“We’re thrilled to receive approval to support ExxonMobil sites in the U.S.,” said Simon Gamble, president and co-founder, Mako Networks. “We’re honored to work with an innovative leader in the petro and fuel industry like ExxonMobil to enable their BWs to meet the growing demands for digital services – securely, reliably and cost-effectively.”

The Mako System consists of two parts:

  • A central management system (CMS) cloud application for helping distributed enterprises configure, deploy and manage Mako devices from a single pane-of-glass, any time and  anywhere with any internet-connected device with a web browser. It supports networking features such as remote configurations, automated alerts, reports and diagnostics.
  • Managed network devices in various types, functions and form factors, including security gateways, VPN concentrators, APs and managed switches, all designed for ease-of-management and high security.

The Mako System is certified to PCI DSS Level One service provider standards. Unlike other providers that offer PCI-compliant services, Mako’s underlying technology is PCI certified each year by an independent qualified security assessor to reduce risk exposure.
