Optical networking specialist Optelian has been named one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies on the annual PROFIT 500 list, recently released by PROFIT Magazine. The PROFIT 500 ranking recognizes entrepreneurs and their businesses for their achievements and contributions to Canada.
“We are thrilled to be included in the PROFIT 500 ranking,” said Optelian’s CEO David Weymouth. “Our growth is testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovative spirit of our employees. This, coupled with our ‘customer first’ philosophy, is Optelian’s recipe for success.”
Optelian ranks number 274 on PROFIT’s list and is recognized for its 211 percent revenue growth over a five-year period. In the “by region” category, Optelian ranks 13th on PROFIT’s list for Ottawa. All candidates were ranked by five-year percentage revenue growth, generally from 2007 through 2012.
According to PROFIT, Canada’s fastest-growing companies operate in a wide array of industries, from high-tech to no-tech. The company in the No. 1 spot on the list achieved an outstanding 49,908 percent, while another company created more than 3,700 jobs for the Canadian economy during the same period. PROFIT characterizes this year’s list as “spectacular” against the backdrop of economic recession from 2007 to 2012.
