prpl Foundation Announces New Board Members

The prpl Foundation announced several new appointments to its board of collaborative open-source community group. The announcement means that the organization now contains complete representation from across the entire connected device sector.

The Board now represents operators, app developers, OEMs and silicon vendors, thus promoting greater collaboration across the connected device ecosystem. By bridging the gap between the large number of companies and technologies used today, the board sees itself as better positioned to drive a united, open-source framework for operators to certify and launch new broadband devices to benefit end users and the wider industry.

“We are delighted to announce our new-look board for the first time publicly,” said prpl Foundation president, Leonard Dauphinee. “We are confident the experience and expertise demonstrated by our new additions will bolster the strategic thinking of the prpl Foundation. As a result, we will clear the way for greater time-to-market for our open-source software and continue to foster innovation within the industry.”

New appointees include:

  • John Valdez (Frontier Communications technical fellow) – platinum director
  • Mike Emmendorfer (Calix VP) – platinum director
  • Sreekanth Natarjan (Qualcomm senior director of technology) – platinum director
  • Ian Wheelock (Vantiva CTO, Europe) – silver director
  • Peter Vandenengel (Sagemcom, VP broadband solutions) – silver director
  • JP Camille (MediaTek, senior manager, technical sales) – silver director

The election process also saw platinum board member, Jason Savard (AT&T assistant VP of product development engineering) named treasurer.
