1Password Introduces AI Spend and Consumption Management

1Password today announced AI Spend and Consumption Management, a new capability within 1Password SaaS Manager that gives organizations a single, normalized view of AI consumption and spend across leading AI vendors.

By bringing usage and token consumption data into one place, 1Password gives IT, finance teams and business leaders a shared view of AI spend so they can understand what’s driving costs, stay ahead of unexpected overages, and make more informed investment decisions. AI Spend and Consumption Management is now available for Anthropic, Cursor, and OpenAI, with support for additional AI vendors planned for future releases.

According to 1Password, the tools organizations use to manage software spend weren’t built for AI pricing that grows with every prompt and model call. Card data, vendor dashboards and spreadsheets were built to explain software costs retrospectively, not to help teams understand consumption as it builds. That delay can cause prepaid token budgets to run down much faster than expected, leaving organizations to discover overages only after costs have already exceeded the plan.

With Goldman Sachs estimating that token consumption from AI agents will grow 24 times by 2030, organizations need clearer visibility into usage before AI spend becomes even harder to forecast and govern.

“Executives want teams to build faster with AI, but that speed is creating a new kind of spend pressure,” said Greg Henry, CFO of 1Password. “Developers are consuming tokens at a pace traditional budgets weren’t built to manage, while IT and Finance are being asked to forecast and justify AI investments without a reliable view of what’s driving costs. Organizations need better data and alerts to understand where model usage is creating value to keep budgets well managed as AI adoption grows.”
