1stPoint Communications has released a white label text messaging portal as part of its hosted Short Message Service Center (SMSC). According to the company, operators can add the portal to their website and start providing services to customers almost immediately without a substantial technology or infrastructure investment.
“Our Hosted SMSC product is an ideal way for CLECs, traditional ISPs, wireless ISPs and Voice over IP providers to begin offering their customers two-way messaging services,” said Kristen Vasicek, Director of Marketing for 1stPoint. “Texting has replaced email as the dominant written communication tool. Any service provider that does not have this capability will be operating at a significant disadvantage.”
This service leverages 1stPoint’s industry leading technology as well as its recent acquisition of Los Angeles-based mobile operator Shelcomm.
“The acquisition allows our platform to provide a unique set of services such as two-way international message delivery and certain advanced features only available to mobile operators,” stated 1stPoint CEO Erik Levitt. “The white labeled portal extends our capabilities to other service providers.”
The platform can take any number from any service provider and give it the capabilities of a mobile number within the texting ecosystem. Provisioning is done with little human intervention, allowing easy access for portal customers.
“SMS and chat will continue to grow as its applications broaden,” added Vasicek. “We are very well positioned to facilitate that growth.”
