Acalvio Launches ShadowPlex Deception Platform

Acalvio Technologies has launched ShadowPlex, a distributed deception platform available via channel partners, built on Acalvio’s patented Deception 2.0 technology. ShadowPlex allows for a flexible deployment on private and public clouds including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and has pre-built integration with major security information event management (SIEM) for delivering comprehensive threat intelligence.

“With its patented Deception 2.0 technology, ShadowPlex supports organizations in and from the cloud to quickly and easily deliver high fidelity, cost effective and early detection of malicious activity,” said Ram Varadarajan, CEO of Acalvio. “Leveraging our Deception 2.0 technology makes it simple to protect on-premises and cloud assets with an additional layer of defense. Deception 1.0 solutions established detection efficacy, but they were rather cumbersome and expensive for enterprise scale deployment. Deception 2.0 represents a fundamental architectural advancement. Through a unique combination of deception, data science and cloud technology, ShadowPlex fundamentally advances the Advanced Threat Detection industry.”

The market for deception technology is projected to reach $2.12 billion globally by the end of 2021, according to Research and Markets’ Global Deception Technology Market report. This demonstrates the need for deception security technology across organizations.

“We believe that the market opportunity for deception based detection is immense,” said Varadarajan. “We are fully committed to a very partner-aligned go-to-market model. Especially now, given the plethora of vendors in the space, resellers and partners play a very important role in clarifying and de-mystifying the buying process. We are passionately focused on product innovation and leadership and are keen to forge relationships with global partners who can expand our deliver complementary solutions and services and help us increase market coverage.”

  • Flexible Deployment: Agile organizations demand flexibility and automation in their production and security strategies. By delivering deception in and from the cloud, organizations can implement dynamic deceptions wherever their assets are deployed.
  • Low IT Impact: ShadowPlex’s integration of FluidDeception and DevOps for DeceptionT, lowers the cost of operation by dynamically and automatically deploying the most effective and relevant deceptions.
  • Scalability: DeceptionFarmsT simplify the management of distributed deceptions across network topologies, leveraging patented ProjectionPoints in order to circumvent traditional obstacles in gaining L2 visibility. Acalvio’s solution does not require span ports and infrastructure changes.
  • Authenticity: Acalvio’s data science automatically presents attackers with a comprehensive environment of realistic, non-fingerprintable decoys, lures and bait based on an organization’s actual network. Service Reflection, an exclusive Acalvio Deception 2.0 innovation, enables custom applications to be easily included in the deception fabric.

“Deception technology enables a more proactive defense against sophisticated and zero-day attacks,” said Michael Osterman, principal analyst at Osterman Research. “Acalvio’s deception approach should prove very useful in quickly identifying and neutralizing even sophisticated and stealthy attacks in a way that conventional security approaches cannot.”
