The Agent Alliance has named Amy Humphreys as vice president, after a two-month search for the right candidate to spearhead the organization’s ongoing advocacy efforts and growth.
Her background as career administrator made her the right choice for the job, according to CEO Bill Power. “Amy fills a vital role for us and we are really enthusiastic about bringing her on board,” he said. “We’re at the launch pad on a number of new industry initiatives, and need her valuable skills to maintain our course.”
Humphreys’ background includes 25 years of experience in both for-profit and non-profit organizations, most recently as the director of advancement for the Richmond Montessori School in Richmond, Va. She also has an extensive technical sales background, having worked with a specialty medical company called Spectral Diagnostics.
“What we found to be Amy’s key asset is her keen ability to successfully navigate through diverse groups of constituents, committees, opinions and beliefs and gain consensus among them,” said Richard Murray, Agent Alliance chairman and president of CarrierSales.com. “That’s the kind of talent we need to corral and work toward real industry alignment.”
She also has deep ties to the telecom industry: Her husband Ben Humphreys is the president and CEO of Comtel Communications, founded in 1991 in Richmond as a regional agency focused on voice and data.
“Telecom and IT is very familiar ground for me,” Humphreys said. “I watched the industry’s changing landscape in products and services, and the evolving marketplace demand. I’ve supported Comtel as it has built a successful path, and look forward to doing the same for all the Agent Alliance member companies.”
A graduate of the College of William and Mary, Amy has a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing. She is a Virginia native, and plans to work from her Richmond office, reporting directly to Power.
