The Alliance Partners, the channel partner industry organization that brings together agents, VARs, managed service providers, IT consultants and cloud specialists, has issued a commendation to Comtel Communications, in recognition of the master agency’s quarter-century “legacy of dedication to channel excellence.”
The company celebrates 25 years in business this year—a period of intense change and opportunity, during which its Alliance membership has been a central piece of its business strategy.
“The Alliance has been a fantastic asset over the years to Comtel,” said Ben Humphreys, Comtel CEO, who has served two rotations as Alliance chairman and who has managed the group’s CenturyLink agreement since its inception. “In many ways, it has been our R&D department, business incubator and sounding board. Within minutes, I can get solid information on any number of topics, projects or business initiatives. We have celebrated successes and learned from failures, but each member of the Alliance has grown because of its participation.”
Comtel’s mission has been to deliver quality, cost-effective solutions to customers with world-class support; as carriers and customers find themselves with fewer resources, the Comtel team has become an extension to its clients’ IT departments. In 2013, it launched a hosted VoIP subsidiary called Simplicity VoIP, and is seeing significant growth and traction with that platform, based on the Comtel model. Rapid technology changes are offering new opportunities too, including in the SD WAN and cloud-based arenas, and the agency, as a member of the Alliance, just kicked off a new relationship with Verizon Communications.
“We would not have been successful without the support of our partners,” Humphreys said. “This dedicated group has been with us through thick and thin, and truly buys into our value proposition of ‘Customer FIRST.’”

Comtel also focuses on supporting the communities where it does business. For each month in 2017, it is donating to a charity that improves the lives of people from all walks of life, who are facing any number of challenges every day, with the goal of making a meaningful impact on their quality of life. In addition to a donation, Comtel is featuring the charity it picks each month in its newsletters, on its website, and through its social media efforts.
