Texas-based Alpheus Communications has expanded its wholesale/retail network to 129,000 Ethernet-qualified locations, making for a 36 percent increase in footprint during the last two years. Alpheus is also expanding Ethernet capabilities to more central offices, including more coverage in South Texas.
The company said the buildout is a direct result of businesses migrating from TDM and T1 circuits to Ethernet over copper, the company said.
“Our business plan has positioned Alpheus to capitalize on the shift of carriers and businesses from traditional network options to modern, standards-based Ethernet,” said Alpheus CEO Scott Widham. “Carriers and enterprises get scalability, flexibility and cost-effectiveness, while our channel partners have more revenue-generating options from selling a broader portfolio of Ethernet services available via the Alpheus network.”
Texas has also seen economic growth, attracting new businesses and sparking new-building construction.
