Avnet Expands Hitachi Distribution to Latin America

Avnet and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) have expanded their distribution agreement to include Latin America.

Building upon Avnet’s existing relationship with HDS in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe, Avnet will offer HDS solutions in three Latin America countries – Argentina, Colombia and Mexico – with HDS choosing Avnet as its sole distributor for Argentina.

“Storage is a critical element needed to support big data and converged infrastructure initiatives, as well as the incredible growth of information being generated by mobile devices and the Internet of Things,” said Eduardo Barron, vice president, Avnet Technology Solutions, Latin America and the Caribbean. “By expanding our relationship with HDS, partners have a new way to help manage their customers’ data storage challenges, especially those related to the third platform. Partners will also be able to leverage Avnet’s deep technical expertise and market knowledge to accelerate their success in developing and closing new business opportunities.”

Under the expansion, Avnet will provide partners access to HDS storage, converged infrastructure and big data solutions to help their customers manage the amount of data that is generated by their businesses and enhance operational efficiencies. These solutions support a wide variety of markets, including the finance and telecommunications industries.

“We expanded our relationship into Latin America because Avnet has consistently proven to be a trusted partner throughout our more-than-15-year relationship and understands how to create a knowledgeable partner community to bring our products to market,” said Oscar Valerdi, channel manager for Latin America, HDS. “By adding new countries, we are enhancing our capabilities to help partners capitalize on the growth opportunities in storage that are being driven by the continuous advancements in technology that generate massive amounts of data.”
