China Unicom Americas (CUA) has expanded its Americas network with a point-of-presence (PoP) in The Westin Building at 2001 6th Avenue in Seattle. It will use the facility to extend its data networking services to wholesale and business customers in North America and Canada, including low latency routes to financial hubs such as New York and Chicago.
CUA delivers international solutions that support various bandwidth requirements and physical interfaces ranging from T1/E1 up to 10G waves. The company also provides network diversity via multiple transpacific network routes, and offers what it says is the fastest latency route from the U.S. to China utilizing the Trans-Pacific Express submarine cable system.
“Our new PoP in Seattle is indicative of our expanding network here in North America, further strengthening our global network delivery capabilities to meet growing customer needs,” said CUA president Wu Yitao. “The Pacific Northwest region in particular is experiencing a surge in its economy, drawing in businesses that require a strong network with an international reach.China Unicom Americas is pleased to expand our network in this region to address such demands.”
With the addition of the Seattle PoP, CUA has added to its existing network of North American PoPs, including locations in New York, Los Angeles, San Jose, Miami, Dallas, Chicago and Toronto. Globally, China Unicom’s network covers more than 100 countries with direct connections and partnership agreements in place with more than 85 international carriers.
