Cologix has turned up the first phase of its MIN3 data center, located in the 511 11th Avenue carrier hotel in Minneapolis. The facility has passed a commissioning test and is ready for service.
Cologix’s MIN3 data center offers direct access a range of network service providers via Cologix’s Meet-Me-Room. The facility is in the process of receiving Tier III certification by the Uptime Institute and is already approved for the State of Minnesota’s sales tax incentive program, whereby customers deploying qualifying new equipment or software in the data center are eligible for a sales tax rebate on those purchases. The site operates under the same controls that have already been certified under SOC2 Type2 (SSAE16) standards.
“The enterprises we talk to that are evaluating moving to a colocation model are looking for three things: 1) high reliability infrastructure, 2) proximity to their IT staff and 3) the ability to future proof their investment with access to numerous network and cloud services with zero switching costs,” explained Grant van Rooyen, CEO at Cologix. “Our new data center’s reliability stands up to any in the market. We built it downtown because it is minutes from anywhere in the metro area and because we can allay our customer’s concerns over technology change by connecting them to the largest network and cloud ecosystem in the region already established at the 511 11thbuilding.”
Phase I of the new data center supports more than 250 cabinet equivalents. The site is supported by 2N UPS and generator infrastructure as well as N+1 cooling infrastructure, which has additional flexibility added into the design to accommodate high density applications. The second phase is prepped and available for rapid construction leveraging the base infrastructure in Phase I.
MIN3 is Cologix’s 21st data center in North America.
