Cybersecurity Funding Jumps 78% in Q3 2026

Cybersecurity vendors raised $5.26 billion in Q3 2026, up 78% from the same period last year and nearly double the previous quarter, according to new data from Pinpoint Search Group.

Pinpoint’s Q3 2026 Cyber Security Vendor Funding Report tracked 153 transactions during the quarter, including 104 funding rounds and 49 mergers and acquisitions. The $5.26 billion in disclosed funding was the highest quarterly total since Q1 2022, compared with $2.95 billion in Q3 2025 and $2.79 billion in Q2 2026.

Year-to-date funding has now reached $12.7 billion, the highest total through September since Pinpoint began tracking the market in May 2020, narrowly surpassing the $12.6 billion recorded over the same period in 2021. September alone accounted for $2.43 billion across 46 funding rounds, the highest monthly funding total since February 2022.

“The big change in Q3 was the return of large funding rounds,” said Mark Sasson, managing partner of Pinpoint. “Investors are making big bets again, mostly on companies that have already raised and grown.”

Seventeen companies raised $100 million or more during the quarter, up from seven in Q2 and 11 in Q1 and the second-highest quarterly number recorded by Pinpoint. Those rounds accounted for 68% of all disclosed funding in Q3. Cyera and Island led the quarter with $400 million each, followed by Upwind with $300 million.

However, investment was not limited to established vendors. Seed and Series A deals represented 62 of the quarter’s 104 funding rounds, or 60%, and attracted a combined $1.16 billion.

“The numbers point to activity at both ends of the market,” said Sasson. “Early-stage companies continue to attract capital, while many of the quarter’s largest rounds went to vendors that have raised before. That combination helped make Q3 the strongest funding quarter we’ve seen in more than four years.”

Identity was the most active cybersecurity segment in Q3, recording 23 transactions. These included 16 funding rounds and seven acquisitions. Security services followed with 15 transactions, while AI/LLM security, fraud, and governance, risk and compliance (GRC) each recorded 13.

The Q3 findings are available through Pinpoint’s Cybersecurity Funding Dataset, launched earlier this year to provide continuously updated access to cybersecurity funding and M&A activity.
