DC BLOX Data Centers Are NIST 800-171 Compliant

DC BLOX, a provider of interconnected multi-tenant data centers that deliver the infrastructure and connectivity essential to power digital businesses, are now NIST 800-171 compliant.

NIST SP 800-171 is a set of standards established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) that outlines practices non-federal organizations can use to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

This means DC BLOX can provide its services to federal agencies and contractors that are subject to these requirements.

DC BLOX is developing the processes and systems that meet the stringent security requirements to ensure the protection of their customers’ data and equipment. In addition to NIST 800-171, DC BLOX is also SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and meets HIPAA / HITRUST standards to protect patient health care information.

To ensure infrastructure reliability, DC BLOX’s Birmingham data center is certified by Uptime Institute for Tier III design and constructed facilities while all DC BLOX’s facilities share the same reliable design to meet Tier III requirements.

With the increasing value and volume of data in government and enterprise, there are enhanced risks to data security that must be considered when selecting a location for the IT infrastructure that manages it. Selecting a provider that conforms to the most stringent data security standards is vital. Compliance to all standards achieved by DC BLOX including NIST 800-171 have been attested to by third-party audit firms.

An important element of protecting IT infrastructure in a data center is physical security. DC BLOX’s facilities adhere to rigorous state-of-the-art standards. Its data centers are built outside 500-year flood plains and earthquake zones. The walls and roof of each facility are designed to withstand 150 mph winds in the case of severe weather. To prevent unauthorized intrusion, the facilities are equipped with perimeter fences and berms, CCTVs with 24×7 monitoring, cover the entire campus right down to the cabinets, with motion detectors and RADAR imaging systems.

Inside the facility, 24×7-manned guard stations are protected with ballistic resistant glass and walls. Tiered multi-factor authentication protects access to the common areas, mantrap, data halls pods and customer cabinets.

With an aggregation of government agencies and contractors in the region, DC BLOX’s Huntsville data center is ready to serve executive branch agencies, defense contractors and any organization that handles, possesses, shares and receives Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
