Digium Promotes Jordan to CTO

Digium has promoted Matt Jordan to the leadership team as CTO.

Jordan will lead the technology and architectural strategy for the company’s product and service offerings, including Switchvox, Switchvox Cloud and Asterisk. He assumes responsibilities of CTO, previously held by Mark Spencer, founder of Digium and creator of the Asterisk open source project. Spencer remains as the company’s chairman of the board.

“Matt has been an instrumental part of Digium since he joined the company and shares my passion for Asterisk, while being committed to guiding the vision for all of Digium’s technologies,” said Spencer. “I don’t know of a better person to step into the role of CTO and contribute to the successful growth of Asterisk and Switchvox.”

Jordan most recently served as Digium’s director of technology where he coordinated the vision and implementation of software technology across the company, including Asterisk and all Asterisk-based products and services. He joined Digium in 2011 as an Asterisk developer, and quickly moved into the role of Asterisk project lead, now held by Matt Fredrickson. During his time on the Asterisk project, he led the development of Asterisk 13, which included the most significant architectural improvements in the recent history of the project. Prior to joining Digium, Jordanserved in various engineering roles, developing software for commercial and government use, including working on contracts for NASA and other large customers. Jordan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering from Michigan Technological University, a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana State University, and multiple patents.

“This is an exciting time for Digium as the company enters its next stage of growth. Having someone of Matt’s caliber lead the strategy for technological planning is crucial to the continued advancement of our core products and cloud-based services, while also staying true to the Asterisk open source project,” said Danny Windham, CEO, Digium. “Matt is not only well respected within the Asterisk community, but also by his peers and the Digium development teams under his direction.”
