Faction, an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud service provider, has announced its partnership with SoftNAS, a cloud storage software company to complement its NetApp storage portfolio, available via channel partners..
The company said that the move addresses a growing need for on-demand, enterprise-class network-attached storage (NAS) and cloud file gateway capabilities with advanced Network File System (NFS)/Common Internet File System (CIFS) shared storage in the cloud, a mainstay storage solution for customers moving to the cloud.
“The SoftNAS addition to Faction’s portfolio, enables customers to receive a true differentiation on price performance for file gateway services on the front end of high-performance storage area network such as NetApp E-series,” said Rick Braddy, CEO, SoftNAS. “As organizations accelerate their cloud adoption strategies, SoftNAS delivers powerful, frictionless software-defined storage solutions that protect business-critical data and keep applications running 24 x 7 x 365 across public, private and hybrid clouds.”
Cloud IaaS is one of the fastest-growing areas of cloud computing adoption, according to Gartner.
“It is a maturing technology with mainstream adoption. Although most organizations use cloud IaaS for only a portion of their workloads, the percentage of workloads in cloud IaaS is growing rapidly,” said Lydia Leong, vice president and distinguished analyst with Gartner.
