FiberLight is establishing additional low-latency connectivity between the western portion of the company’s Texas network – covering Abilene, Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, Odessa, San Angelo, and surrounding cities and towns – and its Dallas-Austin-San Antonio-Houston (DASH) footprint.
This latest project will provide direct high-bandwidth transport capabilities into critical regional and national data centers in Dallas, Houston, and in metros across FiberLight’s southeastern network for enterprising firms and regional service providers and carriers in Texas’ growing West Texas cities and towns.

Since breaking ground on its Texas expansion project in 2012, FiberLight has provided dark fiber and high-capacity transport services to local school districts, regional data centers and growth-minded businesses who previously had few, if any, optical networking options. Additionally, local utilities and carriers have leveraged FiberLight’s network reach and high-bandwidth infrastructure to provide a wider range and reach of services to their customers. When added to FiberLight’s other ongoing national projects, specifically its recent South Texas expansion announcement, this total Texas transport solution will also create new opportunities for international carriers and companies to increase data-supported business operations in the United States.
“By connecting our West Texas network directly into Dallas, FiberLight is taking yet another step to tie the 10,000 miles in its Texas network together to act as one,” said Ron Kormos, FiberLight chief development officer. “All major cities in the region will benefit from lower latency, high-speed transport over newer fiber. Moreover, this project will feature colocation huts, with space for equipment for our dark fiber customers, at key locations along the route.”
FiberLight owns and manages more than 1.65 million fiber miles in over 44 metro areas across the United States. It also maintains over 17,000 backbone access points, 1,700 on-net locations and presence in over 100 data centers across the country. The FiberLight network within the State of Texas spans over 10,000 miles.
