Great Plains Communications Announces New Fiber Routes

Great Plains Communications announced two new high-capacity, low latency diverse fiber routes in Kentucky at ITW 2019 in Atlanta this week.

The first route will run from Lexington to Louisville, while the second will extend from Louisville to Georgetown, Kentucky. The new fiber buildout in Kentucky is scheduled to begin in early 2020.

The Kentucky fiber buildout will be carried out by InterCarrier Networks, a Midwest fiber optic carrier with a high-capacity network spanning Illinois, Indiana, the St. Louis metro area, and Kentucky. Great Plains Communications recently entered into a definitive agreement to acquire InterCarrier Networks. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2019 following customary regulatory approvals.
