Guidance Integrates Webroot Threat Intel into Endpoint Security

Forensic security specialist Guidance Software has inked a distribution deal to provide Webroot‘s BrightCloud IP and File Reputation Services to Guidance customers.

Guidance has directly integrated BrightCloud into its EnCase Endpoint Security platform, thus embedding threat intelligence into its endpoint detection and response (EDR) products. As a result, Guidance will be able to gather new security insights to better secure customer networks and endpoints, as well as create effective policies to manage accessibility and risk tolerance.

“Today’s complex threat landscape requires robust layers of security and intelligence,” said Anthony Di Bello, senior director of products with Guidance. “Webroot’s cloud-based threat intelligence database and automated machine learning capabilities make them an excellent partner as we enhance our EDR offering.”EnCase Endpoint Security Version 6 is anticipated to be available for general availability in late June.

“Our alliance with Guidance Software marks a new and welcome expansion of our customer base,” added Michael Neiswender, vice president of OEM sales with Webroot. “Webroot’s Brightcloud automated machine learning solutions are able to provide an additional layer of security to the EDR market by detecting new and unknown threats. Both private sector and public sector organizations represent high-value targets for cybercriminals and we applaud Guidance Software’s decision to take the next step in assuring their customers are protected.”
